「博物館是文化交流、豐富文化、促進相互理解、合作與和平的重要橋樑。」
“Museums are an important means of cultural exchange, enrichment of cultures and development of mutual understanding, cooperation and peace among peoples.”
為喚醒大眾對於博物館的認知，國際博物館協會(ICOM)自1977年開始將每年的5月18日定為國際博物館日(International Museum Day)，並藉由每年提出不同主題，引發各界對於當代議題的關注。
本年度（112年）518國際博物館日主題定為「博物館、永續性與健康福祉」(Museums, Sustainability and Wellbeing)，並以全球的健康與福祉(Global Health and Well-being) 、氣候行動(Climate Action) 與陸域生態(Life on Land)為三大焦點。
